Goodbye Cellulite Cream is the first product of its kind from the legendary lotion maker Nivea. Given the brand’s track record we wanted to find out if this product lives up to the fine reputation earned by its range of other products. In doing so, we looked at three key criteria – product effectiveness, ingredients and its overall value. Unfortunately, what we found is that Nivea’s Cellulite Cream does not live up to the reputation Nivea has earned with the myriad of other fine products it has brought to the market.
Benefits
As with any product promising to reduce or prevent cellulite, Nivea’s Goodbye Cellulite is designed to reduce or remove unsightly lumps and bumps that are characteristic of cellulite. Specifically, Goodbye Cellulite promises to visibly firm the skin within two weeks and reduce cellulite in thirty days. As with its other products, Nivea’s Goodbye Cellulite makes significant note that it is developed and produced in France. Although this may be a major selling point with many of its potential users we can find no evidence that fact is of any value or consequence in the product’s overall effectiveness.
Nivea Goodbye Cellulite Ingredients
Nivea Goodbye Cellulite is composed of a number of industry standard ingredients and, to the company’s credit, in more than adequate quantities. That being said, we could find no tangible benefits from the selection or quantities of these choice. Here is a list of a few of the key ingredients:
- Denatured alcohol – A standard ingredient designed as an antifungal.
- Cyclomethicone - a fancy name for silicone companies use when they don't want you to know its silicone. The International Journal of Toxicology reports it is safe but is not absorbed by the skin
- Cyclomethicone – An ingredient more commonly known to the public as silicone. And, since many consider silicone to carry negative connotations it is not uncommon for many manufacturers to use this far more benign sounding ingredient name. Either way, the International Journal of Toxicology states that the product is safe to use even though it is not absorbed into the skin.
Where to Buy Nivea Goodbye Cellulite
As with Nivea’s other products, Goodbye Cellulite is available in retail and drug stores around the country and online. A 6.7 oz. bottle states that it will provide enough for thirty days of use at an average retail price of $19.99. The company does allow dissatisfied customers to return unused portions of the product but does not guarantee a refund in the event the product does not work.
Conclusion
Given Nivea’s reputation and extensive line of quality products we were initially expecting to proclaim Goodbye Cellulite to be yet another success story. However, what we found was that this product does not live up to the promise one would expect from such pedigree. When we considered the extensive list of ingredients that have redundant properties in this product we could only conclude that the company had decided that decided that a complicated sounding formula would disguise that fact that it had no real innovations in formulations of an anti-cellulite cream.
